sessions offered Relaxation (Swedish) Massage Aimed to smooth away tension, improve circulation, relieve aching muscles, and soothe physical and emotional stress. We will communicate before the session about what kind of pressure you find most relaxing, or you can simply trust my professional judgement to find the appropriate depth, as you let go of the worries of the world. (30, 60, 90-minute sessions)
Deep Tissue Massage A deeper massage with long, slow specific pressure that targets specific problem areas of the body. Designed to soften the muscle and warm the tissue to aid in injury rehabilitation, or to increase flexibility and relieve soreness. During longer sessions, expect that Swedish relaxation techniques will be blended with Deep Tissue work to specific problem areas. (30, 60, or 90-minute sessions)
Craniosacral Therapy This gentle bodywork technique focuses on sensing the subtle tidal patterns of the cerebrospinal fluid and restores flow and movement to the fluid systems of the central nervous system. Like any area of the body, trauma or injury to the tissues can lead to blockage or stagnation patterns. This can be very helpful for anyone with a history of concussions, head trauma, auto accidents, sinus pressure headaches, or birth trauma, to give some common examples. Craniosacral is considered by some to be an Energy Medicine technique, but unlike some more energetic forms of therapy, it is very grounded in the bio-rhythms and tissues of the human body. For more information on this work, please check out this essay by Michael Kern, BCST. (60-minute session)
Craniosacral/Massage Blend These sessions allow me to work out some of the stress or tension in a specific area, or give a short soothing all-over relaxation massage before we slow down and move into the deep, quiet experience of the craniosacral session. This blended approach helps many people relax more deeply during the session, especially if they are less familiar or comfortable with meditation or if they find themselves "living in their heads" and having a harder time turning off their mental chatter to relax into the deep relaxing quiet of their resting body. If you are torn between booking a massage or a craniosacral session, this blend is designed to give you the best of both worlds! (60, 90, or 120-minute sessions)
Pregnancy Massage Similar to a Swedish massage, but with the use of special maternity bolsters for total comfort at all stages of pregnancy. Pregnancy massage benefits the upper back, hip and leg discomforts, which often are experienced during pregnancy. It also helps the expectant parent feel calmer and more emotionally supported during this important time of life. (60-minute massage session, or 90-minutes pregnancy massage/cranio blend)
